A vibrant, layered, lush garden in Hamilton with various colorful flowers and treed backdrop.

cove is a landscape architecture studio specialising in bespoke residential design. We are licensed landscape architects who believe the built and unbuilt land plays an integral role in people's well-being. We create landscapes that balance intuition, nature, and human presence, where indoor and outdoor living flow seamlessly to create environments that feel both grounded and expansive. Every decision — from grading and spatial organisation to plant selection and materiality — is deliberate and responsive to the site, resulting in layered, purposeful landscapes that feel naturally integrated and support daily living.

With experience across maritime Eastern Canada, Ontario's northern cottage country, and southern Ontario's rural and urban properties, we design spaces that are meticulously detailed and grounded in a deep understanding of site and context. Our services span all facets of land design and master planning, from site discovery through schematic design, construction documentation and on-site construction oversight. We create gardens composed to invite pause, movement, and quiet discovery.

We find inspiration in working with like-minded clients and collaborators to build a more resilient, responsible, and beautiful world.

Our Name: cove

The name cove is rooted in memory: a childhood spent in quiet, sheltered places with views out into the land, spots where you could feel held and still see everything around you. That feeling is the heart of every landscape cove designs.

A cove is a place of shelter and discovery, and that is exactly what cove believes a home should be: a sanctuary that restores the mind, grounds the body, and lifts the spirit. A place that brings joy, invites exploration, and connects the people who live there back to the land itself, so that over time, it becomes somewhere they feel most themselves.

Our Approach

Every landscape begins with listening. To the land, its rhythms, and the people who inhabit it. Our approach is rooted in observation and restraint, understanding what already exists before deciding what should be introduced, shaped, or left untouched. We believe in landscapes that breathe: gardens that hold light, gather rain, and invite you to slow down. They evolve with the seasons, deepen with time, and become part of the living ecosystem.

Journey from Vision to Reality

As landscape architects, we see further than appearance. Every project begins with understanding the land itself, its light, topography, water, and vegetation, alongside the people who will inhabit the space. That understanding, not a template or a trend, is what shapes every decision that follows.

We let direction emerge slowly, sitting with ideas and drawing by hand before committing to a single plan, so the character of a space, its moments of pause and movement, its framed views, its balance of structure and openness, feel discovered rather than imposed. From there, we bring the same precision to materials, planting, and construction that we brought to the first sketch, so nothing is lost between vision and reality.

We stay closely involved through construction, working alongside builders and craftspeople to safeguard the design as it's realized. The result is a landscape shaped with intention: one that fits its site, serves the people who live there, and grows more meaningful with time.

BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY

Every landscape starts with a conversation and a willingness to listen.

We look forward to shaping something unique, thoughtful, and enduring together.
